There are technically four films in the series so far, though officially only three films are part of The Doll Chronicles<\/em><\/strong>, as the original concept development film “Reaction<\/em><\/strong>” was more of a concept and went under the “barbie chronicle” moniker. The current films are:<\/p>\r\n

Completed and released in 2021, Apocalypse, The Doll Chronicles<\/em><\/strong><\/a> is the film that never was. The footage was originally shot in 2015-2016 and it was meant as an overly ambitious entry into The Doll Chronicles series, but sadly most of the footage was lost to dead hard drives. From footage found in and restored from old drives found years later, Franco Esteve’s great Doll Chronicles frustration, Apocalypse was rebuilt, refocused, and finished as a thought, a conceptual, music driven, experimental film more in line with The Doll Chronicles concept, and yet, maintaining some of the original dialog and ideas.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The film follows Doll, a woman on the edge of reality, as she explores what looks like a desolate, post-apocalyptic landscape. Something or someone appears to be chasing her, and as we follow her travels, the darkness becomes clearer and we learn what it’s all about. The final film can be interpreted a number of ways, but the social awareness focus is still on trauma, particularly childhood trauma and abuse.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The film features new actors Charlotte March, Danny Brooks, and Llucia Piz\u00e0, and sees the return of Consequence actors, Marisa Reyes Dur\u00e1n and Bernat Piz\u00e0 Galmes, with another cameo by executive producer, Emma Saura Woods in a party scene with other extras. The experimental short has received awards and accolades both for the film and its music.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Consequence, The Doll Chronicles is an award-winning, silent, experimental, music driven short film about Doll, a woman on the edge of reality, who falls in love with a guy who leads her down a dark path and consequences ensue. It’s a story about the consequences of falling in love with the wrong man, making some wrong choices, and the dark consequences that can ensue.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Originally inspired by a Larry Clark photo from his Tulsa collection, it was released in 2014 and featured Marisa Reyes Dur\u00e1n as the lead actress and Bernat Piz\u00e0 Galm\u00e9s as the dangerous love interest. Executive producer Emma Saura woods also appears as a victim. The film explores real life situations and themes of drugs, sex trafficking, and more, as well as showing some of the consequences that giving in can lead to.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The film received a number of accolades, and was particularly singled out for its original soundtrack by Franco Esteve<\/a>, and how it perfectly drives the story, communicating the character’s feelings, motivations, actions, and horrors.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

The experiment. That’s what Franco Esteve<\/a> calls Paranoia, The Doll Chronicles<\/a><\/em><\/strong>. If Reaction was what inspired and helped birth a concept, an idea, then Paranoia is the experiment that brought it to life. Released in 2013, Paranoia, The Doll Chronicles<\/em><\/strong><\/a> is about Doll, a woman on the edge of reality, who suffers paranoia in her old house. The film elicits fear, anxiety, and pushes the viewer to experience what Doll is experiencing as she deals with her own fear and paranoia after reading a horror book.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

It stars Emma Saura Woods, Franco Esteve’s real life wife and producing partner, with Nuria Garc\u00eda and Franco Esteve playing cameo roles of creatures. More experimental than the rest of the series, yet defining the essence of The Doll Chronicles<\/em><\/strong>, Paranoia projects the art piece that Franco Esteve<\/a> meant to create fully, with a haunting soundtrack driving the experience.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
